The FleX Club is hosting the Extreme Raider Challenge this Fall.
The FLeX Club at Moorpark College is calling all fitness enthusiasts, spartan racers and adrenaline junkies to participate in the Xtreme Raider Challenge on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The event will contain more than 20 obstacle courses designed for all fitness levels. Each course will challenge all participants both mentally and physically.
Amber Gonzales, Head of marketing for the XRC, hopes that the event promotes fitness in a fun way for students and staff.
“Our goal for this event is to bring our fellow students together, get them up and moving and promote a healthy and active lifestyle,” said Gonzales.
The first race will start at 8 a.m. on Nov. 21 at the Moorpark campus. Gonzales expects this years turn out to be better than ever.
“Each year, the XRC has grown in attendance, so we’re changing things up this year to accommodate more participants,” said Gonzales. “Our capacity is 200 competitor spots and we are looking for help from 100 volunteers.”
XRC also helps do more than just encourage an active lifestyle.
“We are partnering with Be the Match to recruit people to sign up to be on the bone marrow registry list,” said Gonzales. “Last year, a student from Moorpark College was a match and helped to save the life of a two-year-old child.”
Proceeds earned from the event will help fund the Raider Pentathlon in the spring as well as the uniform needs for the Fitness Specialist internship program on Moorpark’s campus.
The entry fee to compete is $25 until Nov. 13 and $35 through Nov. 20. Earn $5 off by showing your ID or singing up in a group of four. Faculty and staff get half off.
