Saturday, Oct. 5, Enegren Brewing Company will host its 8th annual Oktoberfest, complete with German beer, food and games. Located in Moorpark, Oktoberfest will kick off at 11 a.m and continue into the night until 10 p.m.

Co-owner and Master of Festivities John Bird emphasized that this Oktoberfest is intended as an event for the community, not just for those of drinking age. Bird detailed that alongside Enegren Brewing Co.’s various beers, there will also be vendors selling traditional German food, a free-to-ride ferris wheel, a petting zoo, a Mister Softee truck, as well as a kids craft corner.

Chris Enegren, founder and captain of operations, echoed Bird’s sentiments, stating that, although this is an Oktoberfest held at a brewery, this is an event designed for individuals of all ages.

“Most of us, including myself, have kids and our brewery and biergarten will always be family friendly,” stated Enegren. “We want to be able to spend the day at the brewery with our kids, but also want them to be able to enjoy the day too. There will be plenty of food, non alcoholic drink options and live music and entertainment throughout the day.”

As Oct. 5 nears, Beer Hall Manager Meacele Marshall is busily readying Enegren Brewing Company for the event. According to Marshall, extra staff is being hired to bus tables, check ID’s and distribute wristbands. Additionally, over 500 0.5 liter commemorative steins are being brought in for the event, as well as more of Enegren Brewing Co.’s regular glassware, all to compensate for the massive attendance expected. Marshall stressed that the most important thing at Enegren Brewing Co.’s Oktoberfest is quick and friendly service, due to the sheer volume of business.

On regular days though, Marshall emphasizes that they try to create a genuinely warm and welcoming environment at Enegren Brewing Co. Marshall elaborated, “I am from England and I am used to the country pub feeling of making new friends, warmth, companionship, the comfort of being able to come to a place on your own knowing that there’ll be a bar tender or another customer there to have a chat with …”
