Moorpark College’s Career and Transfer Center welcomes students to its annual Career Week from March 3-5. Career Week will offer a full range of events for college, high school and middle school students to connect with potential employers and explore career paths.

Celine Park is a Moorpark College placement project specialist and has also helped prepare for Career Week.

Park discussed how the event helps to connect students with future employers and universities. Also noting how Career Week, “(brings) the community together for informative discussions regarding major and career paths.”

On Thursday, Feb. 27, the College and Career Center joined the Writing Center for a precursor event called “Resume Rally!” from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the third floor of the Library Learning Resources Building in the Writing Center. Students had the opportunity to visit the writing center to get help preparing a professional resume.

The official Career Week festivities kick off Tuesday, March 3 with the Career and Internship Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Quad. The job fair, open to the public, provides students with the potential to gain a job, internship and networking opportunities.

According to Park, there will be representatives from over 90 companies in various fields, including entertainment, health, business, engineering and more. Employers will look to recruit entry-level, part-time, and full-time jobs and internships. Students are encouraged to bring their resumes and dress business casual.

The first 200 students who submit three resumes at the expo will be eligible to receive a free meal from In-N-Out Burger courtesy of the Career Transfer Center.

Following the morning events, there will an Entertainment Industry Panel in EATM 208 from 4-6 p.m.

On Wednesday, March 4, Middle School Health Careers Day will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Two middle schools will come to campus for a tour of Moorpark College’s health-related programs.

The last event of Career Week on Thursday, March 5, the Career Education Day for high school students will run from from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A wide array of Moorpark College’s departments will conduct demonstrations for high school students to explore different fields they may be interested in.

“Build relationships with real recruiters,” Park advises students. “This is the opportunity for you to connect with real companies for real opportunities.”
