Column: Tag you’re it, 2021 NFL franchise tag predictions

A franchise tag is a one-year deal that NFL franchises can use once every year. It can be designated to one player on each roster. The franchise tag window opened on Feb. 23 and ends Mar. 9 this offseason. The window occurs now because it is the stage right before free agency.

Moorpark Athletics will return to competition in April for the first time in over a year

For approximately 347 days, the fields and courts of Moorpark College remained empty. No practices, no games, no teams. None of the benefits of a group of people coming together to achieve a common goal. A whole year is taken from them through no fault of their own.

Old faces in new places: Baseball spring training opens amid pandemic with new protocols

Star players in new uniforms; new COVID-19 protocols and restrictions. A slew of stars will be swinging in new cities come Opening Day Apr. 1, but baseball fans will not have to wait that long as spring camps broke for all 30 teams last week while Spring Training kicks off with fourteen games on Feb. 28.

VCCCD to decide on Friday if Spring II sports will return to Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura colleges

The decision on whether Moorpark participates in Spring II sports will be released Friday, Feb. 26. If the Ventura County Community College District decides to opt-in, baseball, softball, men and women’s track and field, men’s golf, beach volleyball and men’s volleyball will be participating.

New Athletic Director looks to build on Moorpark College’s success while taking on the challenges of COVID-19

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Matt Crater started his new job as Athletic Director at Moorpark College. Starting a new job can bring its own set of challenges. A new building, a new culture, a new set of faces and names to learn -- a new vending machine that sometimes eats dollars and dispenses Fanta instead of the selected Dr. Pepper.

Athletic Director Vance Manakas retires from Moorpark College after 39 years

Vance Manakas has retired after four years as the Athletic Director at Moorpark College. This is the first semester in 39 years that Manakas will not be apart of the MC staff.

Moorpark College Athletics opts-out of delayed fall and winter competition amid COVID-19 concerns

The Ventura College Community College District announced Thursday morning that delayed fall and winter sports competition will not be conducted in early spring of 2021 at Moorpark, Ventura or Oxnard College.

Moorpark Athletic Department working hard amid uncertainty of return

Moorpark College Athletics and all California community college athletic programs have been on hiatus since early March this year. When the program went dormant to competition, the athletic department was also budding with new life to create a safe and healthy environment for Raiders to compete once again, whenever that day comes.

CCCAA Board moving forward with contingency plan for the return of school athletics

The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) has passed a contingency plan regarding the return of school athletics. In July, the CCCAA drew up a contingency plan detailing return dates for school athletics but sports have yet to make a comeback.

Moorpark Women’s Basketball’s looks to last returning starter to lead incoming players
