A part-time student and a full-time club president, Benny Smith serves on the Moorpark College Spectrum club which supports the LGBT community.
“This club has given me so many opportunities to open up and be part of something important and exciting,” said Smith in an email. “It has opened a door to how many supportive and tolerant people there [are] and built bridges to the community.”
The 26-year-old Linguistics major was first motivated to become a part of the LGBT community during the elimination of same sex marriage in 2008.
