The Moorpark Reporter is a fully online student news publication, based out of Moorpark College.

As student journalists, we are the voice for college students in the Ventura County Community College District and the surrounding area. We take enormous pride in our award-winning unbiased journalism and photography.

The Moorpark Reporter staff works primarily online through virtual platforms like Slack to coordinate stories. Every Friday at 12 p.m. we meet in our newsroom on campus to plan out our week and gather research on upcoming stories. For those that work fully virtually we run a virtual room for our Friday staff meetings as well!

The Moorpark Reporter is entirely staffed, edited and produced by student journalists enrolled in the Student News Media classes at Moorpark College and guided by faculty adviser Kelsey Stuart.

First year staff writers are recommended to complete the fully online Journalism M02: Digital Media Reporting & Writing course before enrolling in Journalism M10A: Student Staff Writing, it helps to prepare you for field work and reporting skills!

The staff at the Moorpark Reporter attends a professional development conference every semester. These conferences help to enhance our skill sets and pave the way for our future in the digital media career industry.
