Trudging through inclement weather at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif., the Raiders finished 3rd place in the state, their best finish ever on Nov. 17.
Megan McNally and Karla Vernola led the Raiders to a record-breaking finish by also earning All-American Honors.
McNally ran for 18:19, good for fourth overall, tying Jody Hay from the 2000 team as the highest placing Moorpark College female runner at the State Championship meet. Vernola finished 7th in a time of 18:35. Following was Clarissa Wentworth who finished 24th overall with a time of 19:10.
Rounding out the top five Raider runners were freshmen Leah Paffrath finishing at 19:55, and Aleesha Flugum who ran 19:50, and respectively finished 60th and 55th out of 207 athletes.
Cross-country coach Traycie Kephart said that she is excited and proud of her team this year.
“They worked hard all season,” said Kephart. “What an honor for all of them to make school history. Let’s hope we can stay strong and have another amazing season next year.”
