Moorpark College held their first evening Adult Transfer Night event on April 18, 2013.
Transfer Night showcased several alternative scheduling colleges that offer nighttime and weekend courses, such as Mount St. Mary’s College, Antioch University, Azusa Pacific University, Devry University, and various other participating schools.
Several students have full work schedules and have a difficult time finding the right schools that will help build a bridgeto obtaining a Bachelor’s degree. This event gave them insight to how it can be possible.
Career transfer center counselor, Judy Gould, said this is an experiment for the school to reach out to nighttime students.
“We are trying to accumulate programs that are tailored towards working adults, that are attempting to transfer with full time jobs,” Gould said. “All of these schools brought along information for weekend and nighttime courses,” she explained. “Not every school offers these programs.”
Devry University representative, Ailyana Barrera said they want to provide educational information on Bachelor’s degree attainment for students who need a more flexible school schedule.
“Students that are inquiring about programs such as these should make sure that they know which programs work best for their schedule so that discontinuing their education process is a slim chance,” said Barrera.
Most schools are able to give a detailed outlook on price estimates, exact classes required, and other information that is needed to transfer out of Moorpark and to be on the way to getting a Bachelor’s degree.
Business major, Liz Coster, 25, thinks it’s nice to see all the schools that offer night programs.
“I’m glad to have come to this event, and I set up some appointments with the schools counselors,” said Coster.
If you missed this event, there is still information available on reaching your educational goals with alternative scheduling options.
