Over 60 colleges will be visiting Ventura College on Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, for the annual transfer day.
Ventura College business major Brian Wilkinson is one of the students who will be on hand to check out the many many campuses on hand.
“Being a business man, I need to know who is going to be best for business,” Wilkinson said. “What they have to help take me to that next step is what it’s all about.”
Like Wilkinson, college students try to gather the best information they can to make their college experience a successful one.
Aseneth Cota, is the coordinator of the event and is available to help students. Before
“It’s a one stop for students to see all these colleges,” Cota says. “It only happens once a year.”
These colleges are there for all of your questions in order to fully gather the information you need. Cota continued by pressing the importance of the students’ knowledge on what to come.
“The biggest thing for them [students] to get out of this is understanding exactly what they need in order to maximize their chances for transferring.”
Students really need to grasp this aspect, with acceptances spiraling downward and requirements escalating. With this limit of admissions, schools are now localized, giving priority to close by local students before looking anywhere else. This is just another reason why it is so important to get this extra step.
Schools will also be able to assist you with scholarship details as well as exciting programs for your major. Prepared and eager for this year’s transfer day to take way, Philosophy major Greg Ayala explains his excitement.
“I will definitely be there,” Ayala said. “Seeing half of the friends that went off to college unsatisfied with their choice of school, I for sure want to make the right decision.”
