Anxiety is a state of uneasiness and uncertainty that most students feel before or during an exam.
For Multicultural Day on April 9, Dr. Nickolas Jewell explained how to manage test anxiety using simple and proven techniques that help when preparing for a test.
“Students should feed their stomach to feed their brain,” said Jewell. “As well as get enough sleep because sleep creates access to memory.”
Jewell who has a doctorate in clinical psychology, said that stress blocks memory and interferes with ones higher level thinking.
“Your attention is focused on the possibility of failure, danger or misfortune, that results in your distress,” said Jewell.
Dr. Jewell hopes to help students understand anxiety and gain insight on managing and alleviate the distress that it can have on ones health..
This information can be vital to students with or without test anxiety due to fact that anxiety has a probability of affecting anybody during any given time.
