It’s another semester here at Moorpark College and there are many events going on around campus. With the sporting events taking place, another thing for first time students at Moorpark college is to check out the music department.
Professor James song, an assistant chairman of the music department has high hopes about this upcoming semester.
“How the students perform and the satisfaction of the audience will boost the performers confidence,” said Song.
The expectations for how the students perform are very high and if they want to go on to pursue their careers in music, they are going to give everything they have.
Song is looking forward that this semester the music program at Moorpark College makes a cultural climate for the arts and performances of the students and their impact in the community that they are in.
“It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be put in their work and how they perform on stage,” said Song. “They also will feel a sense of satisfaction of their efforts in there music program.”
At the end of the semester, there will be an awards convocation for the music major students who have performed very well and scholarships for transferring students.
“All of the hard-work and dedication this semester will payoff in the end,” said Song.
Ciara Mcgovein is a vocal performance major and she is auditioning for Carnegie Melon University and Ithica College.
“What I am looking forward to this semester is to absorb so much information to prepare for the next phase,” says Mcgoven.
MCgoven also aims to gain further knowledge of musician ship and theory, and to understand the musical language.
Sam Diaz, a music theory and composition major, is another student at Moorpark College. He is graduating and getting his AA degree in vocal performance and theory. Sam is also going to be performing in Viva La Opera at Moorpark.
“I am looking forward to learning as much as possible,” said Diaz.
