Students interested in applying for scholarships for the fall 2013 semester must submit their applications by April 1.
There are different scholarships available according to each major and educational goal. In order to apply for a scholarship, students must have their application packet and documents filled out in accordance with the criteria and requirements in order to be reviewed.
Presently, there are a lot of options, from tuition assistance, book vouchers, continuing Moorpark college student funds, and scholarships for specific majors.
Intern Scholarship Office Assistant Maria Perez-Medeiros said that she is happy to help any students looking into applying for scholarships.
“I will explain the process, answer questions, and send an email with more information for each scholarship available if any students need assistance,” said Perez-Medeiros. “Depending on the major, there are different scholarships that are available this semester, and there are a lot of students are already applying.”
According to the Moorpark College Scholarship website, donors look for student’s academic competitiveness, community service, financial need, and students in specific majors. Most donors are accumulated from faculty, community, memorial funds, or privately funded operations.
Samantha An, 22, a psychology major, said she has already started looking into applying for a few different scholarships for the fall.
“Up until this semester, I didn’t know that there was a scholarship office besides the financial aid office,” said An. “So now I am taking advantage of what is available to me.”
