Students can learn about the business world from professionals at the upcoming “Business Expo.” Hosted by the Moorpark College Business Students Association, BSA, the free event will last from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 24 in the Preforming Arts Center. Additionally, a free lunch will be provided. BSA Vice President Morgen Livingston is excited for the event, which the BSA is organizing. “This is a very unique opportunity for students to learn more about the world of business and gain important (and free) information on specific industries,” Livingston said. “Many business professors offer extra credit for students who attend and give the club feedback, which is always a plus.” Livingston said that the expo will feature a wide range of speakers from the business world, from marketing to accounting. Companies such as JD Power and Baxter will speak at the conference, and the keynote speaker will be Bill Watkins, Ph.D. “This is a great opportunity for both business majors and students who are undecided to get more information on the different areas of business,” Livingston said. Business Professor Stephanie Branca said that the program will be beneficial to all students who attend. “It’s an opportunity for students to find out about a variety of career options from professionals working in the field,” said Branca. Branca said the BSA organized and planned the event. “This gives BSA members the chance to develop skills in executing a large event,” she said. The BSA noted in a email that last year approximately 300-400 students attended the event, which resembles a convention. Branca said that may receive a immediate tangible award from the event. “This event is well supported by the business faculty, who may give out extra credit to students attending.”
