Students are out of luck if they need to, but haven’t, applied to graduate this Spring because counselor time is limited and the deadline to apply is March 22.
In order to receive a certificate or degree you must complete a major or area of emphasis.
To complete a major or area of emphasis, students have to have a minimum of 60 units, a GPA of 2.0 or higher, have all of the general education classes completed as well as the competency requirements, which are different from the GEs.
Counselors encourage students to apply early because waiting until the last minute lowers your chances of getting an appointment with a counselor on time. Some students try to use express counseling to get their application done, but this is not allowed because the process takes too long.
After the application process is completed, the degree will not appear on your transcript until 2-3 months later.
In order to graduate in Spring, your application must be submitted by March 22. For Summer, the application must be in by June, and for Fall, it must be in by November. For more information, contact your Moorpark College counselor.
