The Transfer and Career Center on the Ventura College campus is open for business in a new location: the Student Services Center in the old library.
When fully operational, the new services center will house six different offices, including counseling, matriculation, student business, student payroll and admissions and records.
“Students should love the convenience of having all student services under one roof,” said Transfer and Career Center coordinator Aseneth Cota. It makes it easier for the new students to find the necessary offices when first enrolling in Ventura College, she said.
After spring break all of the counseling, admissions and student business staff will be moved into the center, although not all programs will be fully functional, according to Cota.
The Transfer and Career Center gives students a variety of opportunities. “We have representatives from all the major colleges and universities who come in to let our students here at VC get to make an educated decision out of many choices for a higher education,” Cota said.
Other tools that are available to help students in those decisions include conference rooms, workshops, computers and career exploration programs.
Norine Fine, a counseling intern at the center, is excited about the new facility.
“We have so many tools here for students and we are anxious and willing to help,” said Fine. “So come on by.”
