The Moorpark College Lady Raiders’ Soccer program is a program that is on the rise and has brought in many leaders through the years.
Standout sophomore, Olivia Hicks, is a leader among the Lady Raiders that has made an impact so far.
“What makes me a leader and someone to look up to is my work ethic and how I won’t give up,” Hicks said.
Hicks is a two year starter for the Lady Raiders at forward. Her motivation and love for the game has led her to a successful college career so far and her goals of transferring are in the near future.
“Off the field, her positive view on life made her an accepted leader and she is an inspiration to incoming freshman players, distilling effective academic and athletic advice,” Moorpark College Women’s Soccer Head Coach Eric Privat said.
Hicks’ success on and off the field drives her to be the best leader that she can be. As an only child, she grew up with a love for soccer because she feels that some of her closest relationships have been formed on the soccer field.
“What got me to where I am now is my family and coaches,” Hicks said. “They were the ones that taught me the game, pushed me to try harder, and never give up.”
As an athlete at Moorpark College, Hicks feels that the support of family, staff, friends, and other athletic teams is what makes the Lady Raiders so successful. The support from that group helps drive her to do her best.
Hicks realizes that education comes first and that school is the first priority. She is a Biology major and holds a current GPA of 3.4 at Moorpark. Her plans for transferring are not completely decided, but San Francisco State is at the top of her list at the moment.
