With thespring semester coming to an end, many Moorpark College students anticipate acceptance letters to all the universities and state colleges they applied to transfer.
Students who applied to universities did so around half a year ago. Within 6 months, most students heard back from the colleges they applied to.
“I got into UCSB,” Sarit Ben-Nissan, 20, communications major, said. “It was my first choice and I couldn’t be any happier!”
Along with the good news that came, some were not as happy as others.
Madison Greene, 19, communications major, was satisfied, and yet confused with what is to come.
“I got into SDSU and U of A,” Greene said. “It is just difficult to make the decision whether I want to stay in the state or not. But, I have a little bit of time left to decide.”
Within the Moorpark College campus, many students still fall a couple units short to transfer.
Christopher Pierce, 21, business major, is looking forward to another year here at Moorpark College.
“I guess you could say I’m bummed out,” Pierce said. “Not because I am not transferring yet, but a lot of my friends are moving away after summer.”
But, Pierce looks forward to staying at Moorpark.
“Although I’m excited to continue my education, I love Moorpark,” Pierce said. “Another year here can really prepare me for a year institution.”
Along with students who have already been motivated, this season is also popular amongst those who finally became motivated.
Alec Carmelo, 18, biology major, had difficulties when he first started Moorpark this year.
“I really messed up my first semester here,” Carmelo said. “Seeing all these students excited to continue their education at a university really inspired me to start getting serious. I’m glad I realized this early!”
With the semester drawing to a close, some students still have the fall semester to take the classes they need in order to transfer.
Many programs help students with this process, and can be found at the Transfer Center in Fountain Hall or on their website at http://www.moorparkcollege.edu/services_for_students/transfer_center/index.shtml. Students can also contact them by email at [email protected]
