The Guiberson fire that started Monday burned through the night and is still burning into the north end of Moorpark, causing voluntary evacuation of the surrounding areas of Moorpark College, said President of Moorpark College Dr. Pam Eddinger. The fire and the voluntary evacuation led to the closing of the campus today.
The campus sent out its first batch of emergency notifications in the forms of automated texts messages and phone calls at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Eddinger said that students can find out more about the status of the campus by checking the newspaper, campus website or their my.vcccd portal.
Fire official’s have no information about the reopening of Highway 23 north of Moorpark and south of Fillmore.
