The concert will be held on Nov.1 at 8:00 p.m. on the main stage in the Moorpark Performing Arts Center. This event will give the Choir an opportunity to perform new music selections in front of a large audience.
The Moorpark Choir will be directed by Jinyoung Jang. Jang is a college Choir professor who majored in vocal arts. He has been performing solos for the past twenty years. His passion for singing led him to teach Concert Choir to Moorpark college students. A few modern day hymns will be by composer, Morten Lauridsen. This is meant to compliment the large vocal range of both the men and women in the Choir.
“The program will have many powerful pieces,” Jang exclaims, “Five Hebrew Love Songs by Eric Whitacre are just one part of our program this year, so it’s always different.” He is looking forward to another successful Fall Concert.
Along with rehearsing famous choral pieces by Whitacre, the choir is also learning fast and powerful arrangements by composer Z. Randall Stroope, to enhance the listening atmosphere for the audience.
The concert will provide relaxing and smooth choral harmonies that an audience of all ages can enjoy. Leading with the next month of October, the Choir will be well rehearsed and polished to sing in front of a full audience with friends and family. There will always more than enough seats to welcome new Moorpark College students, and the Choir will make the experience a positive one. Many students and faculty members will be there to show their support. The only part left for the audience before the curtain rises is to sit back, and anticipate an exciting musical night.
Several Choir students have expressed their likeness towards one or more of the new songs. Lyndsay Wytkoski, 20, is a current Choir student majoring in Theatre Arts, “My favorite piece by far is Omnia Sol!” which is a musical piece that is elegant and light- hearted in nature. Wytkoski also listens to a wide variety of Jazz music and Showtunes when she is not at Choir rehearsal.
