Over 40 Moorpark College students auditioned on August 20-22 in hopes of being cast for the school play, Biloxi Blues, which will be performed on various dates throughout October and November.
Erin Havard, 21, Theatre Arts major, enjoyed auditioning for the play and encourages more students to try out.
“Even if you’re not an actor, I think auditioning is a good experience for everyone, to at least go onstage and try” said Havard.
Biloxi Blues is composed of a cast of 11, this includes 9 male roles and 2 females roles, and the female roles will be double cast.
John Loprieno, Director/Producer of the play was in charge of casting this week and was very pleased by the turn out of actors and actresses.
“Casting is my least favorite part of the process. I wish I had 50 million spots to give away” said Loprieno.
Phillip Sanders, 26, Theater Arts major, said that he chose to audition because he loved the characters and the fact that the story is about men serving in the army.
Loprieno chose Biloxi Blues because he thought it would be advantageous to start off the semester with a smaller production rather than a large one.
“Since we did Chicago last semester, which was huge, I wanted to do a smaller show” said Loprieno.
The play will be performed at the Performing Arts Center building of Moorpark College.
