With the recent proposed budget cuts it is hard to really know what the future of our schools will be. We are very fortunate to have a strong board with great staff that have been keeping an eye on the economy and state’s budget cuts.
They are ahead of the game and prepared for the worst. At the district, we are the educators of the traditional and non-traditional students. Our colleges are set in a very diverse environment reaching out to everyone and saying “YES” to whom ever steps foot on our campuses. We are going to continue to educate those students.
We are in an economic crisis and education is the key to that problem. I encourage students to stay in school, and in times of a crisis really put to use the resources that are available on campus. Our courses have not been affected yet, and we will do our best to continue providing courses and activities and effective programs and services that meet everyone’s educational goals.
Our enrollment is increasing every year which means more and more students are either coming back to school for training or for personal gain. California community colleges are the largest higher education system in the world.
We should all be proud of being a part of this system and get as much as we can from our school. If we do get a severe budget cut it will be hard to give everyone room in the classroom, so sign up now.
