Americans should be proud that no one is killed during our elections.

In the Philippines, the exact opposite occurs, said Leo Morales, a Drafting Major and Phillippine national studying at Moorpark College.

Morales spoke with four other students from China, Australia, Vietnam, and Iran Tuesday as part of a International Student Panel at Multicultural Day.

The students compared their own nations with America.

In terms of food, Teddy Yang from China made one thing clear.

“Panda Express is not Chinese food!” said Yang, 20, an electrical engineering major. Yang said he came from a small city of 8 million to Moorpark College to study.

Rambod Kurmanizadeh, 19, hails from Tehran, Iran. He offered some input about his nation.

“They call it a democracy but it is really just a cover, it is not much of a democracy,” Rambod said.

Mia De Paula, 27, is from both Australia and Brazil. She compared Australia’s social health programs with America, as well as education.

“In Australia, 90% of the students get a free college education (from the government),” said De Paula.

Student Cecilia Jobel found the panel to be fascinating.

“I thought it was interesting to see what students from other countries have to say.”
