The Ventura College Annual Faculty Exhibition season is upon the campus as an artists’ reception the evening of Feb. 26 kicked off the newest display in the college’s two art galleries.
The exhibit will run until March 26.
Creative endeavors of 26 art and photography faculty members can be seen in Gallery 2 and the New Media Gallery off North Campus Way on the north side of campus.
The show includes paintings, two-dimensional pieces, printmaking, mixed media, photography, ceramics and sculptures.
The artworks are an extension of the classes that the artists teach at Ventura College. Students and staff can stop in from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Among the works is “Burn #2.” Hiroko Yoshimoto, who teaches a life drawing class at Ventura College, used charcoal from the recent fire in Santa Barbara to draw the piece.
Another piece, Professor William Hendricks’ “Stars & Stripes” photo, represents prostitution in Cuba.
