A fire took place in Oxnard that damaged a beauty salon and an Oxnard College classroom on the morning of Tuesday, February 9.
The fire took place at the Oxnard College School of Marine Biology located in the Channel Islands Harbor, according to District Chief of Police, Richard De La O. The incident was first reported by an OC instructor at approximately 11:38 a.m.
The beauty salon is located on the second level of a two-story building that also contains the OC classroom on the bottom floor.
The fire began in the beauty salon and received most of the damage, De La O said. The OC classroom only received water and smoke damages.
Classes were not in session at the time of the incident, and no one from OC has been reported injured, De La O said.
Investigators conclude the fire’s source was electrical and estimated damage is $250,000.
