Call of Duty, Madden 2011 and Wii Sports will all be competitively played in Ventura College’s first annual Game Day Tournament this coming Friday, Dec 3rd, between 4pm and 9pm.
All games will be featured on top gaming consoles such as Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
The event is open to all the public; to VC students and also to prospective students coming out of high school. Jerome Washington, ASVC treasurer, is coordination the event and made it an open invitation to everyone.
“I expect the event will help build a better connection between students,” said Washington. “…Even with new students.”
The event is being put on in hopes of raising money for scholarships. Ventura College Student Activities Specialist, Rick Trevino, explained that 100% of the events proceeds will go to the ASVC Scholarship.
“We should raise our full goal amount for ASVC Scholarship,” said Washington.
Washington did explain that Call of Duty MW2/ Black Ops was added to the tournament after it being set as popular demand among the students. He feels it makes the event much more appealing.
An ultimate prize package will be awarded to top competitors who finish in either first, second or third place.
Sign-ups are required to reserve a spot in the tournament. Students can sign-up at the Student Activities office, room CSA-155, located directly across from the student book store.
Admissions prices start at $5 for students with an ASC card and $10 without. After Dec 2 admission goes up to $15.
“It’s the first time we’ve ever had a game day,” said Washington. “It will be beneficial to everyone.
