The Moorpark Campus Plaza invites all students to a free showing of “Spiderman 3,” complete with free popcorn, from 7-9 p.m. on Friday Sept. 26, as part of the plaza’s grand opening.
The plaza is also hosting a family day on the 27th. The free festivities will include face painting, rock climbing, psychic readings, and live bands, with giveaways from the plaza’s merchants from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Tina Flor, the Senior Property Manager for the plaza, believes people will be drawn to the event because of the two F’s: “fun” and “free.”
“Campus Plaza is giving away prizes such as a laptop, a TV and an iPod to three Moorpark College Students on the 26th of September as part of a raffle draw for every time they make a purchase at the plaza,” Flor said.
Flor is also planning for the future of the business center.
“We plan to hold a weekly farmer’s market in the future and perhaps have a live band/acoustic night during certain days of the week,” she said. “To achieve this, we encourage all Moorpark College Students to participate and inform us of any events they would like to hold in the Plaza in the near future.”
Among the future tenants of the plaza, according to Linda Brown of Told Partners, is the Arc Angel Fight shop, a clothing store carrying martial arts equipment.
At the corner of Collins Drive and Campus Park Road, the Campus Plaza is currently occupied by businesses such as Shell, McDonalds, and Starbucks.
Certain merchants in the plaza are offering a discount to Moorpark College students and faculty with an MC ID card.
The plaza is also collaborating with the college to help alleviate traffic and congested parking lots.
By allowing students to park at the plaza, students from there may carpool up to campus until Sept. 30.
