When Senators Barack Obama and John McCain duke it out with words at the upcoming presidential debates, you could view them with your friends at MC.
The Moorpark College Political Science Association will be hosting two free viewings of the presidential debates at the MC campus cafeteria next month as part of the Year of Democracy.
On Thursday, Oct. 2, the vice-presidential debates between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden will be televised.
Then, the presidential debate between Senators John McCain and Barrack Obama will be shown on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Both viewings will last from 6-8 p.m.
In addition, political science Professor Lee Ballestero will start a discussion concerning the debate at its conclusion.
“[Watching the debates is] the best opportunity we have to compare and contrast the candidates views at the same time,” Ballestero said. “It is an opportunity for citizens to ask questions in a town hall setting.”
Both viewings are open to the community, and those interested in attending may contact Professor Ballestero at lballestero@vcccd.edu, or visit the Year of Democracy website at www.moorparkcollege.edu/yearof.
