Students have the option to utilize the Moorpark College Health Center which offers everything from Motrin to STD testing free of charge.
Sharon Manakas, Coordinator of the Student Health Center, explained some benefits that the center offers.
“Our primary focus is to help keep students in the classrooms and healthy and provide services that they might need,” explains Sharon Manakas.
Most of the services that the Health Center provides are free. The only things that students must pay for are lab work, flu shots, and medications.
The Student Health Center accepts the Family PAC program for students who qualify. This helps pay for the few services which students must pay for.
The center is staffed by doctors, nurse practitioners, and Registered Nurses. Two psychologists are also on site and are available by appointment.
In addition, the Student Health Center also offers family planning services including STD testing, birth control consultations, and tobacco cessation programs. It is prepped to help students deal with the stress associated with final exams and college life in general by offering a variety of mental health and nutritional counseling services.
The Student Health Center is located in the Administration Building, room 111. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
