Students who want to learn how to defend themselves can drop right into a self-defense class on campus free of charge.
Criminal Justice Professor Chad Basile is teaching a Bujinkan self-defense class that is open to all students. The class mixes a basic seminar with basic training to teach students about self-protection.
Basile, who is also a supervisory special agent for the FBI, is teaching this class every Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in October in honor of Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. He claims that the Bujinkan system is not strictly for the athletic and the well-trained.
“[Bujinkan] is useful for any body, and size and strength,” said Basile. “It doesn’t rely on physical strength, but on balance and timing.”
The class is open to all students and will take place in the grassy area in front of the Physical Science building and adjacent to the Technology building.
