In girl’s volleyball, the Citrus College Owls blew out the Oxnard College Condors, with a competitive third match on Tuesday.
In the first match the Owls overtook the Condors with a score of 25-8. In the second match the Condors seemed to be more relaxed, and got on the board much quicker. However the Owls still had the upper hand winning 25-19.
In the third match the Condors came out hungry for victory, and did so by looking like a brand new team. The Condors had the match at 15-11, but could not hold off the Owls, and the game was forced to an 18-18 tie, when the owls closed the match with a final of 25-21.
One of the biggest assets for the condors was #6 Ranesha Thompson, as she came out strong every single match, and tried to pump up her team by encouraging her fellow teammates.
As coach David Fisher put the perfect duo on top at the net, with #8 Shanna Wright and #1 Rose Householder, they conquered the hits coming from the owls by blocking most shots in that match.
After the disappointing defeat on Tuesday, the Condors look to turn around their season Friday, Sept. 26, against the Santa Monica City College Corsairs. Their next home match will be Sept. 30, against West Los Angeles College.
