The Moorpark Raiders men’s and women’s track teams cleaned up at the second Western State Conference mini-meet on Thursday, Feb. 16.
The meet was the second of 21 this season. The men’s team finished with a final score of 168, while the women finished with a score of 114.
The meet featured participants from Moorpark, Santa Monica, Allan Hancock, L.A. Valley, and Cuesta Colleges. In the men’s 4×100 competition, Moorpark College finished as the runner-up to Santa Monica College. Cuesta College came in third at the event.
With 17 total events, the men took the top spot in 12 of them. The women finished first in seven of their events.
Moorpark’s Jose Garcia finished as the top runner in the men’s 1500-meter race as the Raiders finished first, second, and third in the run. The men also finished in the first and second spots in the high jump competition.
Meanwhile, Tai Battle took top honors in both the women’s hammer throw and women’s discus throw.
The Moorpark track teams will next participate in the Cerritos Invitational at Cerritos College on Saturday at 9 a.m.
