Adolescents with florescent multicolored hair hung around the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts plaza on Saturday night with a fiery blend of guitar riffs. Sky Walker opened up the Feb. 24 concert Rock The Oaks Six on Saturday night followed by a performance by Fermata, which gave Thousand Oak’s star studded introduction to the young lead Vocalist from Cicada with the Clock Work Orange eye.
The harmonic sounds of Sky Walker fueled the crowed and set the scene for Ventura’s own, Fermata to make their entrance onto the stage, and left the youngest band from Ventura county, Cicada, with the job of leaving the crowed satisfied at the end of the night.
“I guess Cicada just put out a new album,” said Chris Ball Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Activity Assistant Analyst. The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s foundation, and the Thousand Oaks Youth Commission presented the concert. This array of punk and alternative music that cut the atmosphere at the Civic Art’s Concert Hall, where the usual performance would be something along the line of “Gone with the Wind”, radiated complete success for the young performers.
It was not a very long show, and there was not much room for movement, and the horseplay was kept to bare minimum because of the bone crushing security presence, but by the end of the night most of the crowd was up on their feet pulsating to the reverberation of sound and energy that flooded the theater.
“This is an annual event that the Oaks putt on for the youth of Thousand Oaks,” said Ball. The concert attracted parents and community members from all over Ventura County.
