Transfer students who have been accepted to 4-year-colleges and would like to network with representatives and other students who are going to the same institutions, can come to the Transfer Social on Wednesday, May 8 from 11-1 p.m. on Raider Walk.
Judi Gould, Career Transfer Center Coordinator, explained that this is a great way to have transfer students celebrate their transfer success and share it with other Moorpark College transfer students.
“This is a celebration where the reps from the different schools come to congratulate the students,” said Gould.
The college reps that will be coming to the event include schools such as: CSUN, CSUCI, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, and UC Berkeley to name just a few.
“I’m relieved I can make concrete plans now that I’ll be transferring to CSUCI rather than just talking about what I’ve wanted to do,” said Sophie Honeyman, 20, Psychology major. “I will definitely try to make it to this social so that I can meet the CSUCI’s rep.”
There will be pizza and salad provided by the Career Transfer Center as well as the Associated Students.
“This social is not just for the Moorpark transfer students,” Gould said. “But we’ve sort of made it into a mini transfer fair so other students can be talking to the reps that are there about going in the future, and also we want to spread the culture of transfer.”
Also, for students who have already heard back from their schools that they’ve been accepted to, can post their name as well as the school they will be transferring to on Moorpark’s “Wall of Fame”for everyone to see. To do so, they can go to the Career Transfer Center to ask for and fill out the form.
For more information about the Transfer Social or the “Wall of Fame”, students can visit the Career Transfer Center located in Fountain Hall 110 or meet and/or contact Judi Gould by email at [email protected] or call (805) 378-1536.
