Ventura College is having a 3-day event at the end of March as a continuation of the year-long 80th anniversary celebration.
The Events Committee Chair Alisa Moore said it is going to be a big event. The school hopes to show off the programs on campus and boost enrolment for up- coming semesters.
“There are going to be activities from every end of the campus,” said Moore. “And we are going to have an 80 inch [or] foot cake in the quad.”
The event will start off with two days of campus clean up March 27 and 28 11a.m. to 3p.m. leading up to an open house March 30 at 12p.m. to 6p.m. The event is free admission, and is open to everyone in the community.
The year-long 80th birthday celebration was kicked off with a cake contest in October at the Pacific View Mall. VC has completed a campus-wide list of “80 Acts of Kindness”. The list includes donations to numerous organization, community service efforts, and other campus events.
The open house will be an hour ceremony with guests and politicians conducting brief speeches.
The new summer and fall 2006 semester schedules will be available at the event for prospective and current students. For more information contact the VC Information office at 654-6462.
