The VCCCD has received the H1N1 Influenza vaccinations.
This vaccine, unlike the seasonal flu vaccine, will protect from H1N1, or as it is more commonly known, the Swine Flu.
Priority cases will be served first. This includes all people under age 24 and people over the age of 49, women who are pregnant cannot get the vaccination. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you are allergic to chicken eggs you are told not to get the vaccine as it is developed in chicken eggs, according to Moorpark College Health Center officials.
These vaccinations are to be available at Moorpark College in nasal or mist form on Nov. 11 from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Student Health Center. Moorpark has run out of the Seasonal Vaccine as of last week.
Oxnard College the Vaccine is available in both Mist Form and Shot Form, the Shot has been available since Monday and they have whisked through 60 of their initial 100 vaccinations and the Nasal will be available to the people from 9:30a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Nov.11. As of right now Oxnard has 9 seasonal flu shots left that number is expected to decrease.
The Ventura College Health center could not be reached for comment on the state of their H1N1 Shots.
