The Moorpark College Men’s Soccer team played against Santa Ana in a strong defensive game that ended in a draw on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Both teams came out with a defensive mindset, where their goalkeepers made good saves to keep each team in the game.
Left defender Lucas Ladek, talked about how his team played against Santa Ana.
“As a matter of fact we did okay; they were pretty much the conference state champions, so starting off with a 0-0 tie in our first game is a good start,” said Ladek.
Both of the Raider goalkeepers made good saves to keep Moorpark in the game. Also helping, was solid defensive efforts from Juniors Martinez and Jack Chanroiet. They diminished many of the opportunities that Santa Ana could have had.
However, Santa Ana couldn’t seem to finish on a couple of their chances. They were called on two offside goals, as well as a ricochet off the crossbar, and another off the upright.
Sean Roche, Head Coach, of the Raiders Soccer team said a few words about how his team played.
“I thought we did exceptionally well, like the lady luck on our side today, I thought we played against potentially one of the better teams in Southern California and defensively we did very well and being our first game, I think we have a lot of opportunities to grow,” said Roche.
The Men’s soccer team is now 0-0-1 and will play their next game away at Irvine Valley College on Friday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m.
