Students, staff or community members who want to leave a lasting legacy can contribute to the new Moorpark Library by donating new books with personal inscriptions.
Through the Adopt-A-Book program launched Saturday by the Moorpark College Foundation, donors can choose from a variety of books that will forever carry an inscribed bookplate. Eva Conrad, president of Moorpark College is looking forward to expanding the selection. “With the move to the new building we finally have an opportunity to expand our collection. Our current collection is about 20,000 books short for a standard college of our size.” she said
The Moorpark College Foundation launched the Honor With Books campaign to add more books to the new library. Moorpark College’s book fund for new books is less than $1,000 per year. During the Saturday community champagne reception, donors toured the library, browsed through pre-selected books and wrote inscriptions and checks. Adoptees of the books, which range in price of $35-$200, get a bookplate with their choice of an inscription on the inside cover Anyone wishing to get more information on the Honor With Books program can contact Jeanne Brown at (805) 378-5851, or on the web at www.moorparkcollege.edu.found.
