For all you cool cats and kittens out there looking to get down, Moorpark College will flip your lid.
On May 15, the Moorpark College Music Department will be hosting “All About Jazz,” featuring the Moorpark College Jazz A Band and the Studio Jazz Band, which scored top three in the US Jazz Band at the Reno Jazz Festival last month.
The Jazz Band will be performing a wide variety of stylistic jazz such as swing, funk, shuffle, bebop, hard bop, latin, ballads and more. Brendan McMullin, conductor of the Studio Jazz Band, and Bob Aguilar, conductor of the Jazz A Band, are excited for the performance.
“It’s one of the best kept secrets in Moorpark,” Aguilar said.
Aguilar will also be conducting one of McMullin’s original pieces, “Sal y Pimienta.”
“It is important for students to go, not only because you get to hear a great jazz concert…our existence as a program depends on the support and contributions of the students and the surrounding community,” said McMullin.
“All About Jazz” will begin at 8 p.m. on the Main Stage Theatre. Tickets are $8 and are available at the PAC box office or online at www.moorparkcollege.edu/p.a.c.
Part of the proceeds go to the Jazz Trust Fund to help support the Jazz Club.
So take five and get fly, and boogie on down to the Performing Arts Center.
