Sure, “Planet of the Apes” has a good message; that one about how humans need to be more aware of their actions, less violent and must learn to respect their environment, etc. I am not saying that those ideas should be ignored, by all means people should be more respectful of each other and the world around them but however “classic” this film may be, its premise is just too ridiculously distracting to hammer the message home.
Maybe it is because I have just spent the last four months learning about human evolution in my Anthropology classes but the whole movie was just utterly unbelievable.
Now, I am not going to go on and on about the technicalities of the ape civilization and how none of their physical features can account for their intelligence or nit pick the many errors of the film such as how the space travelers survived without food or water while they slept for months while on board their spacecraft.
Instead, I am just going to say that if you are going to try and watch this film just keep in mind to ignore the uncountable number of scientific errors.
Just give credit for making a generally original science fiction movie and expect to be entertained.
