The Moorpark College Theater Arts Department is in need of actors for its 2007 summer and fall productions. Auditions will be held on April 23 and 24 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in Room 100 at the Performing Arts Center.
Auditions will be open to anyone but in order to participate in the production, the cast member must be enrolled in three credits of “Theatre Arts M10”.
The summer production will be a play entitled “Scapino” written by Frank Dunlap and Jim Dale. “Scapino” will be directed by Moorpark theatre arts professor, John Loprieno and is based on a Moliere play where two lovers are kept apart by an old man. They are then reunited by a servant named Scapino.
Loprieno plans to broaden the outreach of the Moorpark College Theatre Arts Department.”It is our goal to turn our Summer Theatre Arts program into an outreach opportunity to allow local High School students to interact with Moorpark College students and faculty,” said Loprieno. “This is a wonderful opportunity for High School students to have fun while earning three hours of college credit!”
The fall 2007 production is “The Sandstorm-Stories from the Front” written by Sean Huze which will also be directed by a Moorpark faculty member, Katherine Lewis. “The Sandstorm – Stories from the Front” focuses on the psychological impact that warfare can have on soldiers.
