The Moorpark College Ceramics department is having their annual ceramics and art sale today and Thursday.
The sale has been going on for over 30 years according to part time ceramic professor Donna Scott. The sale features ceramics pieces, jewelry, T-shirts, knitted hats and scarves, and other art, all pieces are made by students.
“(You can get) one of a kind greats gifts,” said Scott.
The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the ceramic studio in T-114. Ceramic professor Jerry Zucca says the sale is a good experience for students because they learn how to display, sale and set prices on their pieces. The prices range from $1 to $320, with most gifts around $50.
The sale takes place at the end of every semester, and features work from students at all levels of experience. The money earned from the sale is split between students and the ceramics department. The ceramics department gets 20% of the profit and the rest goes to the students.
Scott said that it is also a good way for a student who is not in ceramic to see the pieces and maybe get inspired and want to take a ceramics class.
“The gifts are very functional,” said Zucca. He said the pieces could be put in the dishwasher and the microwave. “The gifts are better than getting something at the mall,” said Scott.
