Bringing comedy intertwined with romance, Moorpark College’s Theater Department opens with a production of the French farce, ‘The Learned Ladies.”
Henriette and Clitandre would like to marry, but when issues arise from the family, it makes it very hard for them to continue with their relationship.
Suzanne Fagan, director of the play, says that the comedy in it is very unique and has an element that you don’t find very often.
“I chose ‘The Learned Ladies’ because I love the comedy in it and it has a lot of very strong female roles which I think is always hard to find,” said Fagan.
Eric Austin, a 22-year-old at Moorpark College, is really enjoying being in this type of play and working with Fagan and his co-stars.
“I think it’s a very cool story and it’s very interesting how it goes through different dynamics,” said Austin. “People can relate to it in many different ways.”
After taking intermediate acting with Theater Arts Chairman, John Loprieno, Dorothy Voelker, a 20-year-old English major, decided to do something out of her comfort zone and can not wait for the show to begin.
“I just hope people get a good laugh because it is a comedy and it’s going to be awesome,” said Voelker.
