Moorpark dominates in double header against Pierce

The lady Raiders defended their home turf against Pierce in a doubleheader. They defeated Pierce by 20-2 in the first game, and 21-0 in the second game.

The team was firing on all cylinders this game. They were able to play great offense, and perfect defense for the two games. The lady Raiders had a terrible month of March. They looked to start fresh with the first double-header of April. The two wins here were crucial to keep the team in position to make playoffs.

“We have not been playing to there potential for the the first half the season,” said Head Coach Dave Fox. “So it was good to see that here today.”

The first game was close in the beginning. The game opened up for Moorpark when Megan Zigler hit a homerun. Moments later,with the bases loaded, Jenna Haffimier went on to hit a grand-slam and at this point Moorpark built a solid lead,leaving Pierce no room to come back.

At the start of the second game Moorpark was on fire. Haffimer in the first inning. Haffimer went on to hit another home run. The first inning was an explosion of offense as Moorpark had 11 total runs in this alone. Both games for Moorpark were won in five innings due to the mercy rule.

“It was fun, definitely got the energy on our team to keep the momentum going for the whole time,” said Haffimer who talked about her two big plays “It was awesome to see the team alive for both games.”

With these wins; the team will now be looking to move forward in the last month of regular season play. The team will look to push hard in the last month to enter the playoffs this May.

“These two wins were important,” said Fox. “They kept us mathematically alive in the playoff hunt. We got a bunch of tough teams coming up though.”

With this win the Lady Raiders will now
be traveling to Allan Hancock college in another WSC play. They improved their record to 4-6 in the conference, and will be looking to make a strong push in the final month of regular season play.
