District extends MC president search
April 9, 2014
The selection for the new Moorpark College president has been postponed, with the Ventura County Community Colleges District announcing today that it will extend the search into the summer.
This announcement comes on the heels of an extensive district-wide search, which had just recently been narrowed down to four potential candidates for the presidency.
A public forum was held by the candidates on March 26, and was the last step before the final interviews, which were conducted by the Community College Search Services (CCSS) on March 27. The district will now seek additional candidates in the summer.
As the search continues through the summer, Interim President Dr. Bernard Luskin will remain at Moorpark College.
Chancellor Dr. Jamillah Moore released a comment regarding the district’s decision to extend the search.
“Following interviews with four exceptional candidates, it was determined that we needed additional time to ensure the best possible fit for Moorpark College,” said Moore.
The four candidates that are currently in the running are: Cliff Davis, Dr. Joyce Ester, Dr. Betty Inclan, and Dr. Vernon Smith.
The CCSS planned to make the final decision in mid-April, and instead they decided that it would be best to hold off and continue the search.
“I have complete confidence in our search process and anticipate we will identify the best candidate as we continue our search,” said Moore.
