Jesse Alcala goes national
April 29, 2014
Moorpark College’s new Director of Budget and Finance, Jesse Alcala, is going national.
ASACC (American Student Association of Community Colleges) is a student-centered national network of student government. Its purpose is to educate its members on leadership, public service, and political action, representing 12 million students and 1,600 community colleges from around the nation.
“My goal is to make Moorpark College nationally known and well respected,” said Alcala.
Having applied and earned his position for the Vice President of Leadership at ASACC, Alcala will solve several matters that affect all community college students.
This year, the main focus landed on topics such as the Pell Grant, the student debt crisis, and other matters. The organization’s main role is to work with student governments around the nation to promote knowledge and advocacy on issues that concern community colleges.
“That is unprecedented in the history of Moorpark college,” said Associated Students Advisor, Sharon Miller. “He’s serving at the national level and he is a Moorpark student; I mean that has never been done before.”
Associated Students is very supportive and proud of their current Director of Academic Affairs. With everyone expecting great things, Alcala is more than likely to deliver on making Moorpark College nationally known.
