The Lady Raiders snagged their first win in style last night sweeping the Glendale College Vaqueros in three sets.
The Ladies took the three sets with ease winning with a double digit lead all three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-14, and finishing strong with 25-12.
“Last night was a solid team effort and win” said Coach Aaron Hedland. “We saw a lot of success in the areas we’ve been focusing on. Some lineup shifts have helped us look stronger offensively and defensively.”
The team indeed looked strong in all areas. Offensively, Melissa Brueckner led the charge with 10 kills, while Olivia Hoelker followed by racking up nine kills. The Ladies looked impressive defensively as well, Kendall Jacobsen racked up 21 digs. Mariana Kedzia followed with an impressive 14 digs. To bring it all together, setter Lauren Burt had 30 assists.
“Our blocks were better and our lineup was a good matchup” said Brueckner “People on the court played well together.”
The Chemistry is growing and flowing within the team and as a result they’re playing astoundingly better.
Moorpark has played in two WSC crossover games going 1-1. The team begins conference play this Friday facing off against Allan Hancock College, 0-2 in WSC crossover play.
