Moorpark College’s FLeX Club is hosting their 3rd annual Xtreme Raider Challenge event Saturday, Nov. 22 from 9am- 4pm in order to fight cancer and save a life.
This year’s XRC is special because it is used as a “Be The Match” event dedicated to find a bone marrow donor for MC’s alumnus and Marine Veteran Chris Leatart, who has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Many vendors and stands will be attending the event in support of Leatart and also to spread awareness for leukemia. City of Hope, one of the booths that are planned to be at the event, will have an information table for any questions and also will be available for cheek-swab kits for anyone who is interested in “being a match.”
For more information on participating in the “Being the Match” registry, visit their official website for step-by-step instructions: Http://join.marrow.org/hope4chris (PROMO CODE: hope4chris.)
Moorpark College’s FLeX Club is giving their 100% participation in making sure that all competitors will have an over-all great time and also get an awesome work out in. The Xtreme Raider Challenge consists of an obstacle course provided by the FLeX Club in which students and faculty/staff will participate in two separate divisions; men and women having their own.
The FLeX Club is ultimately looking for anyone who wants to have fun and get a good workout in, according to Fitness Specialist and Kinesiology instructor Jeff Kreil. As well as finding a match to save a life from leukemia. The FLeX Club’s annual event is hoping to give inspiration to students and the community to help others and also possibly be more interested in a more fit and healthy lifestyle.
“What I want to see is that everyone just comes out smiling,” said Kreil. “The real goal of this is to try and help out another person and if we can do that in any way, its a win in my book!”
All competitors must be MC students or faculty/staff. The cost to compete is $30; the smile on a face after a possible win: priceless.
