Students can learn how financial aid follows them when transferring to a university, in a workshop offered every Wednesday.
“We want to help students transfer and inform students on how financial aid transfers with them,” said Financial Aid Specialist Andrea Bernal.
The workshop teaches students how to apply for financial aid, such as grants, loans and scholarships, and what they can expect in regards to financial aid when transferring to a university, said Bernal.
Students will get the chance to use the net price calculator. The calculator estimates how much a particular university will give the student in financial aid, said Bernal. Students don’t know how much financial aid they’ll be receiving from the university they plan on attending, because they haven’t been accepted yet.
The workshops will provide information on how financial aid transfers with you, but they mainly apply to in-state universities, said Bernal. The financial Aid Office isn’t as knowledgeable on the process of out-of-state universities and the way their states offer financial aid, she said.
The financial aid for transfer students workshops are held every Wednesday from 2:30- 3:30 p.m. in Fountain Hall 214 and one Tuesday a month in alternating rooms on the second floor of Fountain Hall. This month’s Tuesday presentation is taking place on January 20 from 2:30- 3:30 p.m. in Fountain Hall 215.
