On the eve of Halloween, it was not all trick or treats for the Lady Raiders volleyball team, as they beat Allan Hancock College in conference play. The Lady Raiders won in three sets: 25-17, 26-24 and 25-13.
The win gave the Raiders a season sweep over the Bulldogs, beating them in both of their home and away games this season.
The Lady Raiders had multiple players who had a big nights. According to cccaasports.org, freshman Meghan Conlan had a team high 16 kills with three spikes and 22 digs scoring a total of 18 points for her team. Freshman Cindy Norris had three spikes, 13 kills and 19 digs for her team coming up with 17.5 points.
Sophomore Team Captain Cassidy Simental and freshman Rebecca Sexton both combined for a total of 35 assists to help their team out.
Athletic Director Howard Davis was very happy with the teams victory and the fact that the game supports a very good cause.
“It was a great night,” said Davis. “Besides our team playing well and beating AHC 3-0, we hosted our annual cancer night. As a part of the night, we honored a 12-year-old boy Sagen Beltowski to serve as honorary team captain.”
After this game, Moorpark has four remaining games left on the schedule. The best they can finish out the year would be to win all four to make it to .500 and finish 11-11.
There is still a chance the Lady Raiders could make it to the playoffs, but according to Davis, it is not a very good chance that it could happen.
Moorpark’s next home game will not be until Nov. 11 when they take on their rival Ventura College at 6 p.m.
