The Lady Raiders started off hot on Wednesday against Ventura, winning the first set 25-18, but coming up short and losing three straight sets and ultimately, the game.
This was the first time in 17 straight matches that Ventura has defeated the Lady Raiders in volleyball.
Freshman Meghan Conlan was almost speechless in the defeat by the Pirates.
“We got complacent and we figured we had it in the bag,” said Conlan. “We stopped focusing on the process of how to play volleyball and we were focusing too much on what we had to do to win.”
In the final two games of the season, the Lady Raiders will look to improve on their record and finish on a good note.
Freshman Natalie O’Sullivan still has a positive outlook on the rest of the season.
“We could’ve played a little harder,” said O’Sullivan. “It’s a tough loss, but next year we will definitely beat them.”
O’Sullivan also was hopeful that her team could still possibly make it to the postseason.
“If we beat the next two teams, then we’ll probably be fourth, and we may or may not get chosen for playoffs,” said O’Sullivan.
The Lady Raiders will play Los Angeles Mission College on the road this Friday and close out the 2015 season at home against Cuesta College on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.
